About the Bermuda Visa Medical

The Bermuda Visa Medical is a mandatory requirement for anyone applying for a Standard Work Permit or long-term residency in the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda. The Government of Bermuda requires medical clearance in the form of a medical certificate to ensure that individuals moving to the island are in good health and do not pose a risk to public health, specifically regarding communicable diseases like Tuberculosis.

For Bermuda work permits and first-time residency, we can provide a medical certificate of good health. This will include our clinic official letterhead, signed, dated and stamped by a GMC registered Doctor. The Bermuda Government refers to this as medical clearance.

Your Bermuda Medical Certificate of Good Health will include::

Midland Medical Group letterhead.
Patient’s full name and date of birth.
Date of examination.
Confirmation that the patient has been medically examined
Confirmation that the patient is in good general health.
Confirmation that there is no evidence of communicable disease (particularly tuberculosis if applicable)
Confirmation that the patient is medically fit to undertake employment/residence in Bermuda.
Doctor’s name, qualifications, GMC number, signature and practice stamp

Which types of Bermuda visas require this medical?

A medical certificate and TB clearance are typically required for Standard Work Permits and Residency applications. While short-term visitors (up to 180 days) generally do not need a medical, anyone intended to reside or work long-term must provide health clearance.

When should I book my medical?

It is best to book your medical 4–6 weeks before you intend to submit your application. If you require a Chest X-ray, you need to allow time for the imaging appointment and for the radiologist’s report to be returned to our GP for final sign-off.

How long does the appointment take and when do I get results?

The clinic consultation takes about 20–30 minutes. If your medical requires a Chest X-ray, this is usually performed at a partner facility. Once the X-ray results are received, your final completed Bermuda medical form is typically ready within 3–5 working days.

Is a Chest X-ray mandatory for all Bermuda visas?

No this depends on the employer and the country of origin and if the country of origin is considered high risk or not

What specific blood tests does Bermuda demand?

The general certificate of health does not mandate blood tests however some employers in Bermuda require blood tests as part of the entry medical and we can provide these where required

Does Bermuda require a drug screen?

Many Bermudian employers (specifically in finance, law, or manual labor) require a 5-panel or 10-panel drug screen as part of the medical. We can include this as an add-on to your visa assessment if required.

Do I need to have a physical examination of all major organs?

Yes, the Bermuda form is quite detailed. Our doctors will perform a full clinical exam, checking your heart, lungs, abdomen, and neurological reflexes to meet the Department of Immigration’s standards.
